Lynne Moriarty 1/48th

Lynne is the Australian Liaison Officer for the Beatrix Potter Society. Naturally she has her own collection of Beatrix Potter ephemera. A while ago Lynne added a set of my Beatrix Potter characters to her collection.
During the Coronation of King Charles lll, Lynne says 'Beatrix was busy too telling stories to her little characters'.
Lynne has sent me photos of more of my little people who now inhabit some of her Beatrix Potter houses. She says 'Hansel and Gretel have now found Rose Cottage garden to be a safe haven after escaping the wicked witch.'
When Lynne was here in England in July 2013 staying in the Lake District, the Queen was also visiting the area and she had a cruise on Lake Windemere. This is Lynne's miniature creation of that memorable day!

Afternoon Tea at Hill Top

Lynne has now created a new setting for Her Majesty...

Saturday 10th June 2023

'This weekend we are celebrating our first King’s birthday long weekend here in Australia. Of course up until now this weekend has always been called the Queen’s birthday… we would normally be away with friends this weekend but are both at home recuperating so I am having a play with my toys…
Beatrix has invited Her Majesty over for tea. I wonder what she will serve? Perhaps some homemade jam with the bread and butter if she goes all out. Obviously it will be something from Mrs Beeton’s cookery book that Millie Warne gave her as a wedding present when she married William Heelis in October 1913. I am sure they will find lots to talk about…probably about Herdwick sheep breeding. How I would love to be a fly on the wall of that parlour. No doubt they will enjoy each other’s company.
This June long weekend was always a highlight in my childhood that rated fourth on the list after Christmas, my birthday and Easter. We are no longer permitted to have backyard fireworks here in Australia  and it always makes me a little sad that my children were never able to know that particular joy as our weather cooled into the long winter months.
I hope you are having some lovely fine and sunny days as you head into midsummer...'
